James Scuderi
CIO — Portfolio Director
James is the Founding Member of Elstern Park Asset Management and oversees the fund’s execution into global exchanges. With a commercial career spanning global industry for more than 20 years, James holds Directorships and executive/advisory roles with a number of businesses within Australia and globally.
These business interests have seen cumulative revenue bases of circa $150million since inception, providing a unique and keenly attuned insight into the global macro environment and, in turn form a useful overlay for analysis of the resources allocation with the Elstern Park strategies.
After studying B.Bus (Accounting) at Monash University, James, while investing across broad traditional investment classes, obtained his Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) and continues to work on developing a range of algorithmic and systemised trading strategies across a wide range of global instruments for use by private investment trusts and related entities. With a deep passion for the financial markets and continued learning, James is also an ASX Accredited Derivatives Advisor Level 1 and Level 2, and a licensed Finance and Mortgage Broker.
As the primary contact for most Elstern Park clients, James brings a considerable understanding of financial markets, strategies and client needs, with a focused goal of achieving outperformance across the Elstern Park fund allocations on behalf of clients.
When not writing research notes, investing in technical systems or meeting with clients, James is the proud father of three young children, together all based on the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula in Australia’s Victoria.
Matthew Anastassiou
Partner — Resources Analyst
Matthew leads Elstern Park’s resource and minerals research direction, with a specific focus on the firm’s allocation to the three primary macro themes and resource segments identified as part of the Elstern Park investment mandate.
Matthew holds a B.Eng (Chem) from RMIT and Master of Science (Predictive Analytics – Data Science) from Curtin University, and has spent the past decade in a range of mining, mineral and optimisation roles globally.
Matthew’s extensive on the ground experience places him in a unique and highly valued position, being able to identify key economic drivers of a particular resource while understanding the processes and management challenges critical to a project’s potential outperformance.
Matthew has successfully delivered optimisation and mine operation improvements across many of the world’s primary resource areas for many of the world’s largest miners and services, including Vale (Canada), Shell (Geelong), BHP (Pilbara) and MMA Offshore (Vietnam).
Matt is based in Australia’s resource hub of Perth, and has the additional benefit of making direct contact with potential investment targets and their assets.

Senior Consultant — Quantitative Systems
James joins the Elstern Park team as a highly valued consultant, and is the primary developer of the core algorithmic element within the Elstern Park investment and trading strategy.
James has over 20 years experience trading global markets, and has delivered institutional grade strategy code for clients globally for the past 10 years.
As Founder and Director of TradingCoders, a boutique Melbourne based algorithmic advisory, and Director of Tribe’Let Capital, James’s knowledge and understanding of market mechanics and algorithmic applications is extremely well regarded.
After studying a Bachelor of Computer Science at RMIT, James obtained a number of key roles delivering coded trading strategies, indicators and API features across several coding platforms and brokerage interfaces.
When James isn’t working with the Elstern Park team, and other fund management interests, he is often found entertaining his other passion, music, which has seen him awarded multi-platinum ARIA records
